The feeling you had left behind
walked the streets a while.
Beneath the halfway-faded lights,
I ambled by its side.
I still saw your life within
as your spirit came to our home.
It wiped its shoes on the outside steps
while an evening breeze blew by.
Raindrops tumbled from the roof
and burst softly at your feet.
But a ghostly chill wrapped around my hands
and reminded me you weren't there.
I wondered why you couldn't be there.
